The 19th Asian Games, hosted by Hangzhou, China, will officially open on September 23, 2023, running until October 8, 2023. Qatar will be represented by over 183 male and female athletes competing in 27 disciplines. The games feature more than 12,000 athletes from 45 countries competing for 481 gold medals across 40 sports, nine of which will qualify for the Paris Summer Olympics in 2024. The opening ceremony will be held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium, with shooter Nasser Salih Al Attiyah and equestrian Maryam Al Buainain carrying Qatar’s flag. Qatar aims to build on its 2018 Asian Games success, where it won 13 medals.
