Major Hamad Ali Al Muhannadi, Head of Radar Tasks at the General Traffic Division, explained that any actual commitment with visual mediums while driving, for example, mounted cell phones and dashboard screens, would comprise a punishment.
During an Al Rayyan TV segment, Al Muhannadi was found out if truly contacting a mounted phone would comprise a petty criminal offense perceptible by the new radar framework, to which he answered positively.
According to the official, using the dashboard monitor in a similar manner while driving also constitutes a traffic violation and would also be detected by the radar.
He cited Article 55 of the Traffic Law, which states that using a mobile phone or any other visual medium while driving would be illegal.
